RESEARCH 1 & 2
The subject area RESEARCH mainly focuses on artistic research which is imbedded in artistic work. However, in order to understand the different genres, categories and methodologies of research, the programme presents courses that look into research as performed within different academic disciplines from anthropology, ethnography, sociology, journalism, to other humanistic and empirical sciences.
Since artistic research is very much related to a specific kind of artistic practice especially associated with spatial practices and their investigation of a context, place and situation, the students have to start to understand that the knowledge produced within their art context is not sampled from the theory and the knowledge produced within academia, rather, they have to assess and identify the knowledge produced with their own art practice.
The students will learn about artistic research and in doing so attempt to master various forms of research as well as acquire knowledge about different methodologies used within various academic fields.
